You are the life of the party, I am never in a party.

You enjoy being in the center stage, I enjoy being one of your supporters.

You are good at keeping in touch, I am not good at it.

You and I are polar opposites.

I never could grasp why I can't put a definite label on us. Could it be because I choose not to even define myself? Not defining myself allows me to fully engage in the spectrum and that's where the difference lies, doesn't it? Though predictable most of the time, you can never guess who I'm into. I'm neither sad nor frustrated that you don't know. After all, it is my choice not to share it with you nor anyone else. You are, after all, my best kept secret.

You're not a mere companion, you're one of my closest friends. 

You're not actually a friend, you're so much more. 

You're not someone I conveniently talk to, you're someone I confide in. 

You are not an experimental relationship.

There's always an inkling of hope whenever we are together. The varied, lengthy, and deep conversations alongside the countless laughter make me think that maybe, quite possibly, we have a chance. Sad thing is we don't hold on to this feeling long enough for it to actually come true. Could there be, even the slightest bit, a chance that if we hold on to the feeling long enough then it will come true? I can never speak on your behalf, but I hope you feel the same.

I hope because I don't want to expect. When I expect, my gut feel saddens and disappoints me. When I hope, there's always that silver lining, a comforting feeling that there might be a chance. A chance that maybe, in an alternate universe, you feel the same.
